Minimum wage increase due 1 October 2014

From 1 October 2014, the National Minimum Wage increases to 6.50 per hour for workers aged 21 years and over.

The National Minimum Wage rates from 1 October 2014 will be:

  • an increase from 6.31 to 6.50 per hour for adults
  • an increase from 5.03 to 5.13 per hour for 18 to 20 year olds
  • an increase from 3.72 to 3.79 per hour for 16 to 17 year olds
  • an increase from 2.68 to 2.73 per hour for apprentices.


Employers will need to ensure that any staff member working on or after 1 October 2014 receives the new payment rate as set out above.
