Maximum award for unfair dismissal increases in February 2011

From 1 February 2011, the maximum award for unfair dismissal and a week's pay in compensation will increase.

This affects employers who are taken to tribunal by an employee and unsuccessfully argue their case. As a result, the employer is ordered to pay compensation by the tribunal to the staff member.

The maximum award for unfair dismissal will rise from £65,300 to £68,400. A week's pay in compensation will also increase from £380 to £400.
