Extension to right to request flexible working scrapped

The government has announced that it will not be offering parents further rights to request flexible working arrangements.

New regulations were to take effect from April 2011 which would give parents with children under 18 years old the right to request flexible working. This has now been scrapped as part of measures announced on 18 March 2011, to reduce red tape for businesses.

Instead, the law will remain as it is currently where parents can request flexible working until their children are 17 years old.
