Employers have until 15 April 2011 to comment on the draft guidance for the Agency Workers Regulations, which are due to come into force on 1 October 2011.

The Agency Worker Regulations ensure:

  • agency workers have access to the same facilities as other employees from their first day working with you
  • pregnant agency workers are allowed paid time off for ante-natal appointments
  • ageny workers are allowed the same access to information on job vacancies as other staff.

After 12 weeks, agency workers are entitled to the same basic working conditions as other staff. This includes pay, annual leave and overtime.

Further information will be available from Business Link and Directgov from May 2011.
