Additional paternity leave introduced from April 2011

For babies/adoptions due on or after 3 April 2011. Fathers and partners may qualify for up to 6 months' additional paternity leave when a mother/partner returns to work with untaken maternity leave.

To qualify, fathers and partners must have at least 26 weeks' continuous service by the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth.

For full guidance, see the Business Link website. Further resources are also available in the paternity section or HRBird.
